These Surface Plates & Tables are manufactured
from Grade 17, close grained, non-porous inclusion
free Cast Iron. They provide an alternative yet
equally suitable material to Granite. Each Plate
& Table has a thick solid top plate incorporating
strong heavy skirting on all four sides as well
as diagonal webbing. The finished product is therefore
high in rigidity with minimum deflections.
Both Plates & Tables are manufactured to the
requirements of British Standard Specification 817
(1988) and can be supplied in 4 grades of varying
accuracy. Grade 3 Surface Plates & Tables are
machined to the required specifications and grades
2, 1 & 0 Surface Plates & Tables are hand
scraped to provide an accurate level of flatness.
